Weekly Photo Challenge: Masterpiece | The Blue Mushroom

One blue mushroom... one shining moment.

One blue mushroom…
one shining moment.

Masterpiece. No matter where you are (and where you’ve been), I’m certain you’ve
stumbled upon something extraordinary: a place that blows your mind; a work of
art or object that speaks to you; or even a location or scene that’s special,
unusual, or even magical in some way.

There are days when God speaks through nature in an extravagant and magnificent way.  Who can not be moved by the the fabulous colors of our sunrise and sunsets? Or see the grandeur of  oceans and waterfalls? Or the changing of the leaves in autumn?

But then, there are days when you just have to be still enough to hear the whisper of a quiet moment and see God’s hand behind an obscure object. Immediately you are touched by the simpleness of the pure joy of creation.  What a privilege to see one tiny, blue mushroom peeping through an ocean of greens! It’s the perfect juxtaposition of  the fragile spore and the tenacity of the grass around it.

This mushroom had one shining moment, soon it will wither and die…but in that one brief instance, it made my world beautiful, it made a difference in how I see my God…it has lived its purpose.

That for me is a Masterpiece.

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:7-10)
