Filipinos always rise up to any dare. So when challenged by QATAR for the ice bucket challenge, can we say no? This will be interesting because we’ve all seen the videos in the social media, but this event is even better! It’s happening here in Quezon City at the football field of the Quezon Memorial Circle and everyone can join in the fun. September 7, 2014 (Sunday) is the big date at 3:00 pm.
What is ALS? According to the ALS Association, ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease. “It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.” At the end stage, patients become totally paralyzed. Much has to be learned from this disease and the lack of funding and research makes it even more difficult for ALS sufferers and their families to bear.
It’s the Filipino’s chance to help and be one with those afflicted with ALS. The ordinary Juan can make a huge difference. Call your friends and co-workers. Bring the family and even the family pet! Together, we can beat ALS, but it has to begin with a willing heart to take the first step and do the ice bucket challenge!
